Utica business earns Growth Company of Year designation

The Universal Bookkeeper business of Utica has been named as a New York Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Growth Company of the Year, said the Mohawk Valley SBDC. At Universal Bookkeeper, a Mohawk Valley SBDC client, business owners Justin and Beth Miller plus their staff manage their clients‘ bookkeeping needs and tax preparation, and work as a remote CFO (chief financial officer) for select clients, said the announcement.

With SBDC assistance, the business has reorganized, relocated, and grown its client base by 38% over the last 12 months, the announcement added.

The New York SBDC recently announced its statewide Entrepreneur of the Year award winners from more than 20,000 clients during the past year. Awards are for business owners whose efforts and contributions have enabled their business to grow and thrive during the past calendar year with the assistance of SBDC business advisors, research, and services. “We are extremely proud of all of our Entrepreneurs of the Year for their remarkable achievements in the spirit of small business and entrepreneurship,” said SBDC State Director Brian Goldstein.

“Their commitment and perseverance have guided them to the forefront of their respective fields, and each one has made a positive impact on the economy, at both the local and statewide level.”
