UPD, Health Dept. to host child car seat events
UTICA — The Utica Police Department and the Oneida County Health Department will be holding two child safety seat events on Saturday.
The events are free and open to the public. Child safety seat technicians will be on hand to assist with properly installing your safety seat in your vehicle, and will be available to answer any questions.
• One event will be held at the Deerfield Fire House at 5476 Trenton Road in North Utica from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
This event is hosted by Oneida County and a limited number of free car seats will be given away by appointment only to eligible families. To qualify, you must be an Oneida County resident, you must be the parent or guardian of the child, you must bring the child or be a pregnant mother due within three months, and must meet public assistance guidelines.
All who register must participate in an educational course online prior to the appointment. To register or to get more information, please call 315-798-5229 or email carseatsafety@ocgov.net.
• The Utica Police Department will be hosting a second event at Handshake City at the intersection of Whitesboro and Division streets in Utica from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Certified technicians will again be on hand to assist with installing your seats. No free seats will be given out at this event.
Future child safety seat events will be held in Rome on Oct. 12 and in Waterville on Nov. 17.
