UTICA — United Way of the Mohawk Valley’s Step-Up Incentive is back for the 11th year.

The agency has announced that this incentive runs through May 2023 alongside the organization’s annual fundraising efforts, including its Workplace Campaign. The incentive offers donors a chance to win a $2,500 gift card thanks to United Way’s Workplace Campaign sponsor, Staffworks.

Individuals can enter United Way MV’s Step-Up Incentive drawing by “stepping up” their annual giving to United Way by at least $100 or making a gift of at least that amount for the first time.

Donations to United Way MV fund dozens of local non-profit programs and initiatives and help thousands of people in this community. Officials say the reach of a donation to United Way is vast, but local, helping 1 in 3 people in the Mohawk Valley.

“My United Way contribution touches community segments that I would otherwise miss,” said Anita Vitullo, president of Staffworks. “It’s rewarding to know that my support provides the broadest reach possible for my hometown community.”

As one of the area’s top funders, many local programs rely on United Way funding each year. Officials say United Way is a leader in innovation through projects and programs that focus on increasing health, education, and financial stability.

“Time and time again, this community always steps up when they are needed. This incentive is a way to say ‘thank you’ to our donors for their part in helping us tackle our community’s most pressing issues,” said Erin Gutierrez Matt, executive director and CEO of United Way of the Mohawk Valley. “For less than $2 a week, individuals can help create a lasting impact with United Way MV and have a chance to win $2,500.”

Last year’s Step-Up Incentive helped raise more than $37,000 in additional donations from community members.
