Two teenagers charged in Hamilton home invasion
HAMILTON — Two teenagers have been charged with robbery and burglary in relation to a recent home invasion in Madison County, according to New York State Police.
Emmanuel E. Brewer, 18, of Hamilton, and a 15-year-old juvenile from Herkimer, were taken into custody in the City of Rome on Tuesday, troopers said. Both individuals are accused of participating in a home invasion on Eaton Street in Hamilton around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, troopers stated.
Five people in total forced their way into the home and attacked the homeowner, then stole several guns, a quantity of drugs, a video game console and some DeWalt brand tools, troopers said.
Following an investigation, Brewer and the juvenile, whose identity was not released due to a young age, were located in the 500 block of N. Madison Street in Rome on Tuesday and were taken into custody without violence or any further incident. The law enforcement presence in Rome sparked a brief panic from residents.
Brewer and the juvenile are both charged with one count each of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary, state police said. They were arraigned in court and both are being held in jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. They are scheduled to reappear in court.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing into the other three people involved in the home invasion.
