Two sent to hospital in accident on Oneida Lake

Personal watercraft crashes into fishing boat

ONEIDA LAKE — Two people were hospitalized after their personal watercraft crashed into a fishing boat on Oneida Lake Monday evening, according to law enforcement officials.

State police said Michael Easterly, 54, of Liverpool, was riding a 2003 Seadoo with Samantha Precourt, 31, of Syracuse, on the west side of the lake near Three Mile Bay at about 7 p.m.

The troopers said that the
pair failed to see a bass fishing boat and the Seadoo crashed into the bow.

Easterly suffered a severe leg injury and he was air-lifted to University Hospital in Syracuse, troopers said. He was last listed in critical condition.

Precourt was also taken to University Hospital with leg and facial injuries.

The two people on the boat were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
