ROME — Two men were taken into custody along the Mohawk River Trail for separate crimes on Monday — one for shooting a BB gun in the direction a child, and one for taking photographs of children, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Dukie J. Fuller, 36, of Rome, was found firing a BB gun in the direction of the child and the child’s father on the Mohawk River Trail at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. Police said Fuller was hanging out with the man and child and they all knew each other. No one was struck or injured.

When questioned about the event, police said Fuller gave a series of fake names.

Fuller is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and false personation, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.

While speaking with the father, 37-year-old William S. Porter, of Rome, police said they discovered he had an open arrest warrant and he was taken into custody.

Police said Porter was in the 600 block of Liberty Gardens taking cell phone pictures of a group of children playing outside at about 9:45 p.m. June 24, 2021. Police said the children asked Porter to stop and he refused, and then he pointed a hunting knife at the children. One of the mothers then came out and called 911.

Porter is charged with second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated. He is also scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
