Two of Sheriff’s 10 Most Wanted in custody

Two people from the Sheriff’s 10 Most Wanted List were located and taken into custody in the past week, according to law enforcement officials.

• Sarah M. Barrett, age 45, was taken into custody on Nov. 27 at the Walmart in Cicero in Onondaga County, deputies said. Investigators said they had developed a lead that she frequented the store. Barrett has been wanted since 2018 on a warrant for violating the terms of her probation on an original charge of fourth-degree possession of stolen property, authorities said.

Barrett is being held in county jail awaiting arraignment in County Court.

• Hector Mercado, age 52, was taken into custody on Dec. 2 at a residence on Waldron Avenue in Buffalo, deputies said. The U.S. Marshals’ Regional Fugitive Task Force took Mercado into custody. He was wanted on an indictment for failing to register as a sex offender, authorities said. Mercado is in county jail awaiting arraignment in County Court.
