Two drown after raft capsizes


TOWN OF STOCKBRIDGE — Two people are dead, including a 12-year-old boy, after their raft capsized on a pond in Madison County Wednesday night.

Sheriff’s deputies said two adults and two children were out on the pond on a floating dock when the dock capsized, causing the children and one of the adults to fall into the water. Deputies said one of the children surfaced and was rescued, but the other child and the adult never returned to the surface.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Munnsville Fire Department were dispatched at 8:34 p.m. to 3511 Graves Road to search for the two.

Police said the bodies of Feldy Miller, 12, and Rudy Miller, 21, both of 3603 Barr Road, Oneida, were pulled from the water shortly after 10 p.m. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Dive teams were used to search the pond.

Autopsies are scheduled to determine the exact causes of death. The surviving child was taken to a local hospital for
