Two charged in Lewis County with drug, weapons possession


PORT LEYDEN — A Rome woman was among two people charged with drug and weapons possession during a raid in Lewis County, according to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies said a search warrant was executed at 8012 Moose River Road in the Village of Port Leyden on May 24 following a lengthy investigation. Deputies said they seized 28 grams of methamphetamine, eight grams of cocaine, 10 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, 12 alprazolam pills and a quantity of LSD.

Deputies said they also seized two loaded, 9mm ghost guns, a 12-gauge shotgun, brass knuckles, a throwing star, a quantity of ammunition, packaging materials and $2,990 in cash.

Lucas W. Dafoe, 31, a resident, and Heather L. Baker, 32, of West Liberty Street, Rome, a visitor, were both charged with two counts each of felony third-degree possession of a controlled substance, deputies stated. Dafoe was additionally charged with one count each of second and third-degree possession of a weapon, and Baker was additionally charged with one count of fourth-degree possession of a weapon, authorities stated.

Dafoe was arraigned in court and was sent to county jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 bond. Baker was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. Both are scheduled to reappear in court.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
