TOWN OF LEE — Both drivers were hospitalized after a two-vehicle rear-ending on Route 26 at about noon Saturday.

Sheriff’s deputies said Timothy Hickey, 49, of Rome, was northbound shortly before noon when he attempted to make a right turn into a parking lot near Delta Lumber, near Cemetery Road. Deputies said Hickey’s 2018 GMC Terrain sports-utility vehicle was then rear-ended by a 2012 Subaru Outback SUV, driven by Bonnie Staple, 50, of Taberg.

Deputies said both Hickey and Staple were taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Staple was also ticketed for following too closely, authorities stated. She is scheduled to appear in Town Court.
