NATURAL BRIDGE — Tug Hill Tomorrow Land Trust and Indian River Lakes Conservancy will host a hike where walkers will explore the fungi found at IRLC’s Baker Woods Preserve, Natural Bridge, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Volunteer expert Steven Danile will lead the free, family-friendly program. The Baker Woods Preserve includes extensive river and wetland habitats, a red pine plantation in transition, and native coniferous and hardwood forests.
Participants should dress for the weather, wear sturdy footwear for some off-trail walking, and bring a mushroom gathering basket or container, some drinking water and insect/tick repellent.
Walkers will gather at the parking lot at 4114 Factory Road at 12:15 p.m.
To get to the parking lot from Route 3 in Natural Bridge, turn south on Depot Street.
Follow Depot Street as it veers to the left (crossing the Indian River) and becomes Factory Road (about a quarter mile).
Go approximately 2 miles, up a little hill past a white and then a red house on the right with a barn on the left, and then past another white house.
The parking area will be on the right.
