TOWN OF DANUBE — A Herkimer County man is accused of setting fire to a house on Tisi Road Sunday night.

State police said Brian D. Talbot, 36, of Little Falls, went to an unoccupied residence at 148 Tisi Road Sunday night and doused the home in gasoline.

Troopers said Talbot then attempted to burn down the house using the furnace.

Talbot then went to the home of a female acquaintance and told her about the fire, troopers said, despite being court-ordered to stay away from the woman.

Troopers said Talbot left the residence by stealing the woman’s four-wheeler.

Talbot was taken into custody at about 11 p.m. Sunday. Troopers said Talbot is charged with one count each of first-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny, both felonies, and second-degree contempt.

Talbot was arraigned in court and was sent to Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

He is scheduled to reappear in court, according to authorities.
