Troopers: Man beat victim with baseball bat

CASTORLAND — A Lewis County man has been charged with felony assault in the beating of another man with a baseball bat.

State police said Scott A. Danforth, 50, of Castorland, got into a fight with a 31-year-old man on May 30. Troopers said Danforth struck the other man several times with a bat, and the victim suffered several fractured bones and an injury to his eye.

Danforth was charged on Tuesday with one count each of first-degree assault, a class B felony, and third-degree possession of a weapon, a class D felony, authorities stated. He was arraigned in court and was sent to county jail without bail.

He is scheduled to reappear in court.
