Trooper, K-9 injured in accident in Oriskany


ORISKANY — A New York State troopers and his K-9 were hospitalized after a pickup truck pulled into their path on Route 69 in Oriskany on Thursday, according to the New York State Police.

Authorities said Nathan P. Myers, 28, of Barneveld, pulled out of the Citgo gas station on Route 69 at about 12:30 p.m. and his 2014 Chevy pickup truck pulled directly into the path of an oncoming state police 2018 Chevy Tahoe SUV.

Troopers said the marked patrol SUV crashed into the front driver’s side of the pickup truck, which had a plow attached to the front.

Trooper Mark Bender was taken by a private vehicle to a local hospital for evaluation, authorities said. His K-9 partner, Ada, was taken to a local veterinarian for evaluation, troopers stated.

Myers was not injured, authorities noted. He was ticketed for failure to yield and is scheduled to appear in Oriskany Village Court, troopers said.
