Trail Blazers sweep to pair of victories over Blue Sox


BOONVILLE — The Adirondack Trail Blazers swept to a pair of Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League victories over the Utica Blue Sox in a doubleheader at the Robert Smith Sports Complex Friday night, winning by the scores of 13-2 and 5-4.

In the opener, Zach Zientarski and Dan Abate both homered and Bailey Collins doubled twice. Collins finished the day going 2-for-4 with four RBIs, while Zientarski drove in three runs.

Earning the win in the first game was John Hardy, who tossed six innings and gave up five hits, two runs, walked two and struck out three.

The second game was much closer, as Zac Bygum earned the win after striking out two in one inning on the mound.

Tyler Bruno and Joe Simone doubled and Simone drove in two RBIs. Bruno and Lou Matarazzo also had an RBI each.

The pair of victories puts the Trail Blazers at a 8-9 mark this season. They return to the diamond tonight as they head to McDonough Park to take on the Geneva Red Wings at 7:05.
