Trail Blazers outscore Elmira in Perfect Game baseball opener


BOONVILLE — The Adirondack Trail Blazers opened their Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League schedule with a 13-6 victory over the Elmira Pioneers at the Robert Smith Sports Complex on Thursday.

Adirondack exploded with a seven-run second inning off of four walks and three hits, including a grand slam from Robert Zurawski. Zach Zientarski and Joe Simone both doubled and Bailey Collins had two RBIs.

Earning the win was JR Hilcher, going two innings and giving up one hit.

He also struck out two, giving up no runs.

The Trail Blazers return to the diamond tonight as they travel to Donovan Stadium to take on the hosting Utica Blue Sox. First pitch is slated for 7:15.
