A 30-year-old woman has been charged with drug possession following a traffic stop on East Dominick Street Tuesday afternoon, according to local law enforcement officials.

Police said Melissa I. Brown, of South James Street, was pulled over for a vehicle and traffic violation at about 4:47 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block.

Police said Brown was found with a quantity of narcotics, and she was found to be driving on an improper license.

Patrolman Charles E. Zonnevylle IV conducted the traffic stop.

Brown is charged with one count each of seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, police said.

She was held in lockup overnight to await arraignment today in City Court.
