TOWN OF LENOX — An employee from the Town of Lenox Highway Department in Madison County is accused of using a tax-exempt town account to make purchases for his own auto repair shop.
State police said Adam C. Cesario, 36, of Lenox, worked in the Highway Department and used the town’s tax-exempt account to evade sales tax on purchases connected to his privately-owned auto repair shop. Troopers said Cesario also lied on a work time sheet to claim he was working at the Highway Department when he was not.
Cesario is charged with one count each of fifth-degree tax fraud, second-degree offering a false instrument for filing and second-degree falsifying business records, all misdemeanors, troopers said. He is scheduled to appear in court.
