UTICA — The Utica Police Department and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up for a Touch-A-Truck event at the Parkway Recreation Center, 220 Memorial Parkway, tonight as part of a National Night Out event from 4 to 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Both agencies will have various law enforcement vehicles on hand for children and visitors to look over and explore. There will also be officers and deputies at the event to answer questions and discuss the job. Both agencies are recruiting new officers, with a civil service test scheduled for September.

Applications are still being accepted to take the civil service test for the Utica Police Department.

The deadline for the sheriff’s office was Aug. 1.
