Tops Friendly Markets to continue Tops in Education effort

WILLIAMSVILLE — Improving the lives of children has always been at the forefront of Tops Friendly Markets philanthropic mission and for the past decade Tops has been committed to our local educators and most importantly, our youth, helping provide much needed funds to its daily curriculum and extracurricular programs by way of its Tops in Education Program (TIE).

The program, which Tops launched in 2012, has donated more than $1.3 million dollars, a significant milestone for the program, as it enters into its 10th season. Last year over 1,000 schools participated in Tops in Education and during the 2020-2021 school year alone the program raised over $146,000 for local schools. The concept is simple and easy to follow and what Tops officials attribute to the success of TIE.

Taking part in TIE is easy!

Simply logon to where you can quickly and easily register your Tops BonusPlus®card for the program.

Here you may select up to three schools in grades K-12 of your choice from a list of schools that have registered to be the benefactor of your Tops shopping.

Then simply purchase participating TOPS Brand, Full Circle, TopCare, Tippy Toes, Simply Done, That’s Smart, and Best Yet products with your Tops BonusPlus throughout the 2021-2022 Tops in Education program year and Tops will contribute up to 5% of your purchase to the school(s) you have chosen! The more you shop, the higher percentage we donate!

“This program provides a great value for our customers while helping to provide funding for educational needs in the communities we serve,” said Kathleen Allen, senior manager of community relations for the company.

“As we at Tops strive to help eradicate hunger and improve the quality of life for children, we couldn’t be more proud of this achievement of donating more than $1.3 million dollars back to local K-12 schools over the past nine years, through Tops in Education,” she added.

The program, which runs Sept. 1-May 31 every year has benefited a wide range of school programs and services over the years. From funding school fieldtrips and school dances to flexing during COVID and providing families hand sanitizer and masks who couldn’t afford them, Tops has learned that the supplemental funding that TIE has afforded these school districts has truly been a blessing.

Tops recognizes that there is a lot to tackle for teachers and administrators alike as the new school year approaches so for those schools who have previously registered, you’re in luck! You do not need to re-register and the same is true for households already enrolled in the program who will be automatically rolled over into the new school year. However, if this is the first time you are hearing of Tops in Education as a school district and want to enroll your school in this FREE program, doing so is quick and easy! Simply visit:”
