Three unhurt in Whitesboro fire


VILLAGE OF WHITESBORO — No one was injured during a basement fire on Hoffman Place in Whitesboro Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies said the fire started in the basement of 14 Hoffman Place and the alarm was raised shortly after 2:30 p.m. Hoffman Place runs between Main Street and Oriskany Boulevard, just north of the Thruway.

Authorities said three people were inside the residence at the time of the fire and they escaped without injuries. Volunteers from Whitesboro and Yorkville responded and quickly knocked down the flames in the basement.

The Sheriff’s Office investigated and determined the fire was not suspicious or criminal in nature. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
