Three Hamilton College softball players collect all-region honors
Three Hamilton College softball players have been selected for the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region Team.
Senior Katlynn McGivney and junior Alessandra Priante made the second team in Region I and sophomore Emma Tansky was placed on the third team. A total of 37 athletes were honored in Region I, which included schools located in New England plus Hamilton.
McGivney made the team as a non-pitcher designated player or utility player. She is tied for 28th in NCAA Division III with a .476 batting average, tied for 43rd with 60 hits, 16th in runs per game and 52nd with a .522 on-base percentage. She stole 20 bases, scored 46 runs, drew 10 walks, and added four doubles and 14 runs batted in. McGivney started all 37 games she played in and made one error in 125 total chances for a .992 fielding percentage. She smashed the team single-season records for runs, hits and stolen bases.
Priante made the team as the second baseman and started 38 of the 39 games in which she played. She hit .312 with 34 hits including two doubles and two triples, drove in 17 runs and scored 12, walked seven times and was hit by a pitch twice.
Tansky was recognized on the all-region team for the second time as she made the team as a pitcher/utility player. She played in 37 games and started 32, hitting .413 with 45 hits and 30 runs scored. Tansky stole 14 bases, drove in 10 runs, walked six times and posted a .453 on-base percentage. In the circle she went 8-7 with a 3.98 ERA in 24 appearances. Tansky recorded eight complete games in 15 starts and struck out 81 batters in 103.2 innings.
The trio helped the Continentals to a 19-20 overall record. Hamilton leads the New England Small College Athletic Conference in stolen bases, is second in runs and hits, and is third in batting average and on-base percentage.
