Thread Bears show quilts first weekend in May

SHERRILL — Displays of quilts in a variety of styles, quilted goods for sale and a raffle for a quilt valued at $1,000 are part of a show hosted by the Thread Bears Quilters’ Guild May 4 and 5 in Sherrill.

Quilt show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 at the Community Activity Club, 139 East Hamilton Ave.

Quit show attendees can see colorful bed, wall hanging, miniature, round robin and block-of-the-month quilts as well as quilted purses and household items; experience a bed turning where a narrator tells the quilts’ story; purchase quilted items, crafts, fabrics and notions; enter raffle for a themed basket or Judy Niemeyer designed “Amazon Star” quilt; enjoy special “Converge” themed exhibition; view a quilting demonstration; and ask guild members about quilts.

Admission is $5; children under age 12 enter for free. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Proceeds help defray expenses for quilts the guild donates to organ donors and recipients, veterans and juvenile, senior and health care organizations.
