Thoughts on political pursuit

An editorial just prior to the last congressional election advised that the election was less about the candidates than about control of the House of Representatives and the likely leadership.

Sadly, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has demonstrated the validity of our concerns.

It will be morbidly fascinating to watch Pelosi chase Donald Trump into the briar patch, only to face getting caught in her own trap. Democrats expect to find shenanigans in the tax returns of Trump and his family, but Trump hired the best accountants to keep things legal.

What the Democrats unwittingly will have done is validate the legality of investigations that can be used to expose Democrat dirty linen. Pelosi’s family made its money through questionable international and real estate deals. Joe Biden’s son has questionable international financial dealings of his own to worry about. Such people became wealthy in office. Trump earned his wealth before election.

All this while she baldly claims Trump has engaged in a cover-up while ignoring that her party paid for an underhanded and likely bogus dossier to smear Trump.

Pelosi is in so deep she can’t back down now. She and her leadership are fixated, like Captain Ahab in Moby Dick, on the great white whale that eventually destroyed both captain and crew.

Local representatives either need to buy into Pelosi or distance themselves from her.

Strap yourself in. It may not be pretty, but it is necessary to clean out the swamp. In Greek tragedy, Nemesis follows hubris. Justice followed failure to understand.
