CHITTENANGO — What roars like a lion and makes wishes come true? On July 20, the answer will be The Wild Animal Park in Chittenango.
Make-A-Wish Central New York is partnering with the local zoo for its fifth annual family-friendly “Walk on the Wild Side” fundraiser, which is held in honor of longtime Make-A-Wish supporters the Heitkamp Family. This family-friendly event will take place Friday, July 20 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at The Wild Animal Park on Lakeport Road in Chittenango.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children two years of age and under. Admission includes access to The Wild Animal Park, a welcome bag with goodies (while supplies last), and dinner for any attendee age three and up. Attendees can also enjoy $1 games, vendor stops, and raffles with prizes. Zoo staff will provide fun animal demonstrations for guests and entertainment will be provided by 93Q.
Featured wish kid Sadie Wilson and twin sister Layla will be on hand to meet and greet attendees. Sadie’s wish to meet “Sofia the First” at Walt Disney World came true in 2014.
Walk on the Wild Side supports once-in-a-lifetime wishes for local children with critical illnesses. To help make more wishes come true, the community is invited to fundraise in advance of the event by starting an online fundraising page. Those who do so can earn free admission and a chance to win special prizes - top fundraiser wins a $500 gift card. To create a page, go to 2018walkonthewildside.kintera.org.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at Make-A-WishCentral New York or Gary’s Auto in East Syracuse, Hiawatha Fasteners in North Syracuse, or at participating Tops Friendly Markets, including
stores in Camillus, Canastota, Cazenovia, Chittenango, DeWitt, Fayetteville, Manlius, North Syracuse, Rome, and Sherrill.
