I have always had a love for music. Whether it is listening to it in the car, while going for a run, around the house, in-person or on CD. I can remember singing at home as a family, I played instruments growing up, and even get into a little band with some friends in high school.

There’s something about the use of harmonies, and good solid lyrics that draw me into a space that nothing else seems to do. Music can be powerful, and it’s never been easier to access it.

Music therapy is a growing clinical field to help individuals reduce stress and improve mood and self-expression.

A recently released song by my favorite band has really encouraged me and help me see the value that God sees in me, His creation. In this week’s article I hope some of these words will encourage you as well.

Need To Breathe is considered a Southern Christian Rock band from South Carolina. On their most recent album, “Into The Mystery,” they have a song titled “I Am Yours.” It’s a wonderful reminder of our value as a uniquely person in His image. A few lines resonate with me…

“But You love me where I am

Enough for You to not look back

And it’s the only kind of love

That I have ever felt like that”

Our Heavenly Father looks at us with an extreme love, regardless of the number of times we falter. He sees us and He loves us.

Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions. It is by grace you have been saved”.

The other line in the song that grabs my attention and provides an incredible amount of encouragement says:

“If I had to write a story

Of the greatest love in time

I would have to sing of You

How I’m this branch and You’re the vine

And the romance that we have, oh, it’s easy by design

I was fortunate to find you, I’m still blown away you’re mine”

The greatest love story ever is the one between our creator God and us, His creation!
