UTICA — The M Proctor Theatre Guild of Grace Church presents the hilarious musical comedy “The Drowsy Chaperone” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 3-6, at its Devereux Street Theatre, 11 Devereux St.

The show features more than 25 local performers and is directed by Peter Loftus, with musical direction by Bonnie Hibbard and choreography by Jake Meiss.

The musical pokes fun at the crazy musicals of the 1920s. The story is narrated by a vintage musical lover (Eric Manley) who plays the record of his favorite musical. As he sits in his chair in his apartment, the musical comes to life with zany characters that are sure to have the audience rolling in the aisles.

This show within a show features wonderful stock characters including the romantic leads Janet (Ryanne Solinsky) and Robert (Mike Revenaugh), the delightfully tipsy chaperone (Jessica Sargent-Wilk), the gruff theatre producer Feldzieg (Jim Revenaugh), his ditzy assistant (Jessica Lotyczewski), two goofy gangsters (Tim Huey, Josh Beckinsale), a forgetful aristocrat and her butler (Ellie Hadity, John Melvin), a Latin romantic lover has-been (Carl Neff), best man (Taylor Mills) and a female aviator (Hana Meyers) who saves the day.

An ensemble of singers and dancers including Liam Butler, Sarah Crill, Fred Frantz, Jessica Kaczor, Michaela Kennedy, Tayler Kochan, Susan Mills, David Paul, Liska Savage, James Swistak, Zach Swistak, Lauren Taylor round out this talented cast. Peggy Frantz is costume designer, lighting is by Ellen Campion, sound by Mark Young and Dick Douglass is set designer and producer.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. each evening with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Free parking is available in the State Office Building parking lot, entrance on Blandina Street.
