The Clothing Closet seeks donations

The Clothing Closet located at the First Baptist Church, corner of George and Embargo streets, provides free clothing and bedding to needy people in the Rome area.

With a referral from a local Social Service agencies, clients may take items they need for their family once a month. With cold weather approaching, church officials said they are in need of all sizes of bedding, as well as blankets, comforters, sheets, and pillows.  Bedding supplies are limited.  The greatest needs are in queen- and king-sized bedding.

The Clothing Closet is supported by local residents who bring clean, usable items to be given free to clients.  The church also has an on-going need for towels, blue jeans, sweat shirts, sleepwear, underwear, sneakers, socks, boots and washable coats. Hygiene items are also in demand.

The Clothing Closet is open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church also provides a receipt for income tax purposes.
