Tenney urges action on Essential Caregivers Act
Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-22, New Hartford, the lead sponsor of HR 3733 - the Essential Caregivers Act, is urging the leaders of the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee to move forward with reviewing and marking up the bill on nursing home care.
“Tenney’s Essential Caregivers Act would set a national standard to protect the rights of residents in long-term care facilities by allowing them to designate up to two essential caregivers who would be allowed to continue providing support to their loved ones in the event of a public health emergency,” her announcement said. “The bipartisan bill, which maintains stringent safety standards and protocols, seeks to ensure that the isolation and lack of care that long-term care residents were subjected to during the COVID-19 pandemic never happens again,” a release continues.
Tenney sent letters to the Democratic Chairs and Republican Leaders of the House Ways and Means and House Energy and Commerce Committees, seeking a review and committee markup of the Essential Caregivers Act.
