BOONVILLE — Two teenagers have been charged with smashing open a vending machine at Erwin Park in Boonville, according to the Boonville Police Department.

Police said two teenage girls, ages 14 and 15, used a large rock to smash out the front glass on a vending machine at Erwin Park sometime before 7 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the two girls stole items from inside the machine and fled the scene.

Following an investigation, the girls were identified and were charged on Wednesday with criminal mischief and petty larceny, police said. They were issued juvenile appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear before Oneida County Probation.

The identities of the girls were not released due to their young ages.
