Teen accused of attacking father, sibling in row over virtual schooling

An 18-year-old has been charged with attacking his father and a younger sibling on North Jay Street Tuesday afternoon.

It was the teen’s second arrest of the day on Tuesday, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Ernest H. Fancher Jr., of North Jay Street, got into a fight with his father and other siblings at their residence at about 1:14 p.m.

Police said Fancher was upset because the siblings’ virtual schooling was keeping him awake.

Police said Fancher struck both his father and a younger sibling during the scuffle. Fancher is charged with one count each of second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated.

At about 3:23 a.m. Tuesday, police said Fancher was one of two teenagers found in a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop on Gifford Road.

Police said Fancher and 19-year-old Alexis M. Frost, of Erie Boulevard East, were both charged with one count of fourth-degree possession of stolen property.

Fancher is scheduled to appear in City Court on all charges. Frost is also scheduled to appear in court.
