UTICA — The Utica Curling Club’s Mixed Championship needed an extra end to determine the winner and when the match concluded a team skipped by Jason Golubski prevailed 7-6 over a team lead by Conrad Law.

Team Golubski scored one in the eight without having the last shot, a tactical disadvantage, to send the contest into an extra end. In the ninth end Team Golubski again without last shot was able to repeat the success that they had in the eighth and stole one to claim the Championship.

The bonspiel held over this last weekend fielded 16 teams, with the top five finishers earning invitations to UCC’s Cobb International Bonspiel which will be held at the club Feb. 16-19 and will include a field of 36 teams from all over the Northeast and Canada.

Members of the A Event-winning team — skip Jason Golubski, Audrey Foote, Erich Krumme and Melissa Foote — were awarded the Skip’s Mace. The A Event runner up team — skip Conrad Law, Knyoca Law, Tim Crofton and Natalie Shelton — received the Searle Pitcher.

The B Event was won by team of skip Chuck Delmonte (with Dave Palazzoli skipping the team in the finals), Sue Williams, John Spicer and Shelly Delmonte. They were awarded the Rose Bowl.

The C Event winning team was skipped by Roger Rowlett with teammates Michelle MacEnroe, Howard Feldman and M J Walsh. Team Rowlett received the Mixed Tray Trophy.

The D Event winner was skipped by Mike Kessler who was accompanied by Anne Stuhlman, Mike DeGironimo and Lis DeGironimo. The rink received the Tea Pot Trophy in memory of Eric Haas.
