Syracuse VA medical director leaving for new post

SYRACUSE — The Department of Veterans Affairs has announced the appointment of Dr. Judy Hayman as the new director of the VA Montana Healthcare System. Hayman has served in a variety of leadership positions at the Syracuse VA for nearly 13 years, including the last three as the medical center director.

“It has been my great honor and privilege to be part of the Syracuse VA family and I am grateful to have worked with so many professional and dedicated staff. Syracuse is a unique place and I am very thankful for the many opportunities I have had here,” Hayman said.

Under Hayman’s leadership, the Syracuse VA has been consistently recognized as one of the highest performing Medical Centers in the VA system in the areas of high quality medical outcomes and patient satisfaction, according to a VA announcement.

Hayman holds a doctorate in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, N.J. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Psychological Association.

Richard Salgueiro, Syracuse VA associate medical center director, FACHE and USA (Ret), will serve as interim director during the search for Hyman’s permanent successor.
