Syracuse adds Carter to women’s basketball staff

SYRACUSE (AP) — Syracuse women’s basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has named Khyreed Carter as an assistant coach, the Orange announced Thursday.

Carter, who worked with the guards at Buffalo under Legette-Jack for the past five years, will oversee player development.

“He loves to get in the gym and develop talent. That is a lost art in this business. I love his basketball mind,” Legette-Jack, who was hired by Syracuse just over two weeks ago, said in a statement. “He’s taken every step from graduate assistant to director of operations and now to an ACC assistant coach. I love that I am witnessing a young coach emerge.”

Under Carter’s guidance, Bulls guards Cierra Dillard and Dyaisha Fair were among the top scorers in the nation over a four-year span. Fair and Georgia Woolley earned Mid-American Conference freshman of the year honors under Carter, who began his career as a graduate assistant at Michigan State, his alma mater, in 2015.
