I watch all the notifications and warnings to the general public prior
to Oswego County doing aerial spraying for mosquitoes to try to prevent the spread of mosquitoes-transmitting illnesses and wonder why. Sylvan Beach does aerial spraying and there are no notifications or warnings in the media prior to the aerial spraying except for the legal notice that was placed in your newspaper back in May of this year.
Businesses in Sylvan Beach are not shutting off their ventilation
systems so those small pesticide droplets are being sucked in and
contaminating the inside of the businesses. Outside eating areas are
being sprayed with people sitting there eating as they and their food
are being contaminated without them being aware.
The Oneida County Health Department hasn’t found any tested mosquitoes in Sylvan Beach to have West Nile or EEE. This assumes the health department is doing such testing.
Why is Sylvan Beach doing this aerial spraying? Is it because visitors and some year long residents want to sit out at dusk around a camp fire and drink beer and not be bothered by mosquitoes? So sitting outside when mosquitoes are most active is being considered by the village officials as a nuisance. I say that isn’t a nuisance. That is plain and simple stupidity.
Maybe people should read some of the initial health studies which seem to link autism, delayed development and ADHD with the aerial spraying of this pesticide, Kontrol 30-30. Maybe they would not be so quick to accept this contamination of the area.
