TOWN OF MARCY — State police and campus police are investigating after a student at SUNY Polytechnic Institute was hospitalized for a medical emergency on Monday.
Officials said there is no indication that the incident is criminal in nature.
School officials said the student suffered a head injury in their dorm room at the Adirondack Residence Hall sometime on Saturday, then was discovered on Monday.
Officials said the student was taken to the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica on Monday evening.
School officials reached out to the state police for assistance in the investigation.
Troopers said the injuries were the result of a medical episode and there is no indication that the student was a victim of a crime. That conclusion is consistent with statements the student made to emergency room staff, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the law enforcement officials.
