SUNY Poly lacrosse routs Northern Vermont-Lyndon


MARCY — The SUNY Poly men’s lacrosse team got its first win of the season Friday, 20-2 over visiting Northern Vermont-Lyndon. The Wildcats exploded for nine first quarter goals.

SUNY Poly scored the first six goals of the game and were up 13-1 at the half.

Freshman Keshawn Clark of Rome scored and had an assist for the Wildcats. Amelio Ripa of New Hartford scored four times. Andrew Maycock of Deerfield had a goal and three assists.

Also for SUNY Poly, Lyle Beeman had four goals and teammates Shane Wyman and Edward Rosaschi had a hat trick each.

Joseph VanZandt earned the win in goal, allowing a goal on the lone shot he faced in the first half. Mathew Johnson played the second half and allowed a goal with four saves.

The team is now 1-4 on the season and the win was the Wildcats’ first North Atlantic Conference league game.

SUNY Poly hosts Thomas College of Maine at 1 p.m. Sunday in the NAC.
