The SUNY Poly Athletics Department has hired David Golembiowski as assistant athletic director for athletics events and facilities. Golembiowski, a native of Holland Patent, began his new role on July 21.

Golembiowski served as an athletics staff assistant, an assistant baseball coach and an assistant men’s basketball coach for SUNY Poly.

His duties primarily focused on game day and fitness center operations and the supervision of student employees.

In his new role, he will be responsible for administrative duties involving game and event management; facilities management, including scheduling, maintenance, and rentals; the hiring, supervision, and training of student employees; and other duties in support of the Wildcats’ 13 NCAA Division III athletics teams.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for Dave as the next step in his development as an athletics professional,” said SUNY Poly Athletics Director Megan Valentine. “COVID-19 was taxing on a number of levels for collegiate athletics programs, and Dave demonstrated a great level of flexibility and maturity as we navigated a multitude of obstacles. We look forward to seeing what he can accomplish in an expanded role and have no doubt that he will be successful.”

Golembiowski said, “As a former student-athlete, and through the tutelage of the great coaches and administrators that helped pave the way for me, I will strive to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes, campus community, and fans.”

SUNY Poly men’s soccer schedule released

The SUNY Poly men’s soccer schedule for the 2022 season has been released. The reigning North Atlantic Conference champion Wildcats will start their season on the road at Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Thursday, Sept. 1.

The 2022 schedule consists of 17 games — eight home and nine away — with nine conference contests.

The team’s first home game is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 7 against Nazareth. Kickoff for the home opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. under the lights.

SUNY Poly’s local rivalry games will both take place at home this season. Utica will make the trip across town on Saturday, Sept. 10. Hamilton will be at SUNY Poly on Sept. 21.

The Wildcats’ home game schedule will also include a rematch of last season’s NAC Championship game against Maine-Farmington. That game is scheduled for a noon start on Oct. 8.

All of the Wildcats’ home games will be streamed live on the SUNY Poly Sports Network.
