Game enthusiasts are gathered at the SUNY Morrisville campus this weekend to participate in the 2023 Global Game Jam.

SNAPSHOT: SUNY Morrisville hosts 2023 Game Jam site


The SUNY Morrisville 2023 Global Game Jam saw many passionate students come together to create a game in 48 hours alongside other participants across the world.

During the fast-paced “jam session” teams of artists, hobbyists, programmers and gamers throughout the world are given a chance to brainstorm, innovate, collaborate and develop new ideas for game design.

Teams spend 48 hours designing a new video or board game from scratch without any outside help. All finished games are archived on a website for everyone to play.

The event has grown significantly over the past several years. The 2009 Game Jam began with 53 sites, 23 countries, 1,650 participants, 370 games. pants, 9,010 games. The 2022 Game Jam had 680 sites, 100 countries, 33,000 participants, and 5,860 games.
