SU Brass to perform at St. Paul’s Friday
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. James T. Spencer, presents a free, public concert in St. Paul’s Church, 1807 Bedford St., at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5.
The SU Brass will be joined by the St. Joseph’s Choir from Lee Center under the direction of Scott Rutledge and accompanied by Jo Ann Geller.
The concert is in celebration of St. Joseph’s 65th anniversary, St. Paul’s 60th anniversary, and the 40th anniversary of the
ordination of the Rev. Robert Kelly.
Music from over 400 years will highlight this performance with selections by Gabrieli, film music from Star Wars, an opera classic from the third act of Turandot, and a medley of big band hits, among others.
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble is a group of 35 professional-level brass and percussion musicians; members include Syracuse University faculty, staff and students, the State University of New York Upstate Medical University faculty and staff, and accomplished musicians from Upstate New York communities.
The SU Brass is traveling to Gettysburg Pennsylvania this June to participate in a brass festival at the historic battlefield.
The St. Josephs choir will present a primer of highlights from its free, public May 26 concert at the Lee Center Church.
