ANNSVILLE - Work continues to identify a cause and solution to slope failures
on a stretch of road in Annsville in the vicinity of Fish Creek, Oneida County Department of Public Works Commissioner, Mark Laramie, said on Monday.

Earlier this month, a portion of county Route 66/Blossvale Road in Annsville near Fish Creek was experiencing a slope failure, causing a side of the road to begin to erode.

Due to safety concerns, the section of road was closed to both directions of traffic.

That closure continues this week with traffic being diverted to nearby roads, Laramie said.

Laramie added that slope failures are now evident along both sides of the road for several hundred feet, but do not appear to be a washout from nearby water sources.

Last week, an engineering team conducted soil boring work for samples to determine soil conditions such as moisture content.

Laramie said the county is waiting on the results from those tests along with recommendations for a solution.
