Students learn about job opportunities at Career Fair

HAMILTON — Hamilton Central School hosted its very first Career Fair Nov. 18 for its students in fifth through 12th grade. Sixth-grade teacher Monica Chamberlain and high school agriculture teacher Johanna Bossard arranged to have 40 careers represented, including construction, massage therapy, and cyber security professions.

Students were encouraged to visit as many different companies as possible to build awareness of all the possible opportunities that are available. They asked questions like, “Are there on the job training opportunities?” and “What is the toughest part of your job?”

The goal for this event was to make the students aware of all the different possibilities that are available to them post-graduation. As students worked their way through the gymnasium, they were able to visit with companies that were unfamiliar to them, make connections with potential employers and possibly make a plan for what is to come next.
