Storm Spotter class offered by fire department

LEONARDSVILLE — The Leonardsville Fire Department in Madison County is hosting a free National Weather Service Basic Skywarn Storm Spotter class on May 20.

Skywarn is a volunteer service developed by the National Weather Service where local people provide timely and accurate weather reports.

The Skywarn volunteers look for thunderstorms, tornadoes and other emergency weather patterns.

The free training class will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 20 at the Leonardsville Fire Department on Mill Street.

The class will involve fundamentals of storm structure and evolution, severe weather safety techniques, radar interpretation and other lessons, according to the announcement by event organizers.
