Storm slams Golf Course Road area
STORM SLAMS TREES, POWER LINES — A powerful storm left hundreds without power as it downed numerous trees and power lines in the Rome-Lee-Western area on Saturday evening. National Grid said that the storm knocked out power to more than 300 customers in the area. The utility company and the Lake Delta Fire Department responded to Golf Course Road in Western to clear trees and branches. The road, along with a portion of Route 46 at Fish Hatchery Road, was shut down temporarily. Power was restored to most of those impacted on Saturday night with the remainder having power restored in the early morning hours on Sunday.
