MUNNSVILLE — The Stockbridge Valley Central School District’s Class of 2019 valedictorian is Aliyah Frederick and the salutatorian is Kevin Miller, the district announced.

• Frederick, the daughter of Terry and Charmy Frederick of Oneida, plans to attend SUNY Geneseo and major in psychology.

Frederick has been recognized with several awards throughout high school including the University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award and the 2018 Clarkson School Scholars Award.

A National Honor Society member, she also has been involved in several extracurricular activities including youth group, school sports and clubs.

She has volunteered at the Congregational Church’s Soup and Pie Day, food kitchens in Oneida and as a church group youth leader.

“I feel so proud to be named valedictorian,” said Frederick. “I’ve worked so hard and it hasn’t been easy. It’s rewarding to see my hard work finally pay off and be recognized for it.”

• Miller, whose parents are Ronald and Mandy Miller of Munnsville, will attend SUNY Delhi to major in veterinarian science.

Miller has been a member of the National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Marching Band, Select Choir, Drama Club, Yearbook Club, Library Club, Mathletics, Student Council and Journalism Club.

He has received the Merit Scholarship of Excellence, Cornell Book Award, Syracuse University Award of Recognition, Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, and the Prudential Spirit of Community Certificate of Achievement.

He has earned community service credit by volunteering at Camp Lookout, New Beginnings Community Church Children’s program and the local church food pantry.
