Stevens, Gryziec pools to remain closed this summer
ROME — Stevens Pool and Gryziec Pool will remain closed in the City of Rome this summer due to a staffing shortage, according to Rome Mayor Jacqueline M. Izzo.
The Rome Board of Estimate and Contract recently signed a deal with the Rome Family YMCA to supply lifeguards and other employees to cover Tosti Pool on Sixth Street, the Municipal Pool on West Embargo Street and the Guyer Wading Pool on Laurel Street. Mayor Izzo said Stevens and Gryziec will remain closed, as they have been for several years now.
The three pools will be open Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. between June 26 and Aug. 18. Tosti Pool will also be open on Saturdays.
There will be swim lessons at Tosti Pool on Mondays and Wednesdays, between July 10 and Aug. 16. The cost is $30 for Rome children and $40 for non-Rome children.
There will also be a free weekend kayak program at Bellamy Harbor on Saturdays between July 8 and Aug. 12.
