Stefanik camp takes aim at Castelli support for Supreme Court pick, call for records

SARATOGA — The campaign of North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-21, Schuylerville, has criticized Democratic challenger Matt Castelli’s support for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, as well as his call for the release of the congresswoman’s phone and email records between Election Day 2020 and Jan. 6, 2021.

“Far-Left Downstate Democrat Matt Castelli, in a recent interview with WAMC Northeast Public Radio, came out in support of Joe Biden’s Radical Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. Jackson is an activist judge who has a troubling history of soft-on-crime sentences, particularly for child sex predators, and could not even define what a woman is during her confirmation hearing,” an announcement from the Stefanik campaign said.

“Far-Left Downstate Democrat Matt Castelli and Communist Chinese Party’s former lawyer Matt Putorti are so Far-Left and off-the-planet out of touch with Upstate and North Country values that they agree with Jackson’s belief that there are not two genders and instead embrace gender fluidity,” the media release said.

“These radical Far-Left views about gender will destroy women’s sports, women’s shelters, women’s health clinics, and women’s educational and leadership opportunities,” the statement added.

In a separate statement, Stefanik’s campaign hit back at the Democratic challenger’s request for phone and email records.

“This is a candidate woefully out of touch with the North Country and desperately grasping for relevance,” the Stefanik campaign said in a statement on Thursday. “Matt Castelli fully embraces Nancy Pelosi’s false, Far-Left, deranged, anti-Trump talking points about a sham commission that is doctoring evidence — straight out of Adam Schiff’s illegal playbook.”

“The Stefanik campaign is calling on Matt Castelli to release all communications and documents when he worked on President Obama’s staff and is widely known to be involved in the illegal spying on the Trump campaign and the efforts for a coup against President Trump,” added the statement by Alex DeGrasse, senior adviser to Stefanik.

“Voters in the North Country are smart and know the commission is a political witch hunt and Far-Left Democrats like Adam Schiff are doctoring evidence and lying because they are losing so badly on issues that Americans care about. Sorry to disappoint our desperate Democrat opponents, but there are no communications with the White House to release. Shame on the media and desperate North Country Anti-Trump Democrat candidates for pushing this Pelosi propaganda,” the statement added.
