DEERFIELD — An investigator with the New York State Police is currently on administrative leave following a drunken driving charge in May, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers said James E. Jones, 52, of New Hartford, was driving drunk when his personal vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Walker Road in
Deerfield at about 3:40 a.m.
May 22.

Troopers said Jones was off-duty and driving his privately-owned vehicle at the time.

Jones is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and failure to keep right, troopers said.

His case remains ongoing in Deerfield Town Court, according to officials.

Authorities said Jones is on administrative leave and his case is undergoing an internal investigation as well.
