Buddy Boeheim set to be part of Sitrin’s celebrity wheelchair basketball game

UTICA — Sitrin Health Care Center’s Celebrity Classic Wheelchair Basketball game is set to return after a two-year hiatus.

It will be the 18th time the event has been staged and Syracuse University men’s basketball star Buddy Boeheim is the headlining player for the event.

Boeheim, the 6-foot-6 guard who is in his senior season under his father, Jim, is averaging 19.3 points per game entering Tuesday’s game at Boston College.

Sitrin’s Celebrity game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Utica College’s Clark Athletic Center.

“The Sitrin STARS are anxious to showcase their abilities and are incredibly appreciative of the support they receive from the community,” said Marc DePerno, director of the STARS program.

Proceeds from the event set to go toward the purchase of new sports wheelchairs and equipment and help offset training and competition expenses for STARS athletes.

For more information, contact DePerno at 315-737-2459 or mdeperno@sitrin.com.
