Tri-Valley Playaz holding registration, tryouts

The Tri-Valley Playaz of the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley will be holding registration and tryouts for the boys AAU basketball program beginning this weekend.

Tryouts will be at the Rome YMCA on Sunday for grades 3-6 from 4:30-5:30 p.m., for grades 7-9 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and for grades 9-10 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Tryouts for varsity players will be held on March 3 from 4:30-6 p.m.

A $20 registration/tryout fee is due the day of tryouts in order to participate, and a parent or guardian must be present to sign the registration and waiver release form. This can also be done in advance by picking up a form at the Rome YMCA. Payment is by cash or by check, payable to the Rome YMCA, the day of tryouts.

Volunteers are also needed to help with the program.

The Tri-Valley AAU Organization is under the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley Association, which has branches in Oneida and Rome and also services youth and families in the surrounding communities, including Sherrill, Vernon, Verona, Canastota, Holland Patent, Camden, New Hartford, Westmoreland and Oriskany, among others.
